Quilting Events

Please note that not all guilds have been in touch about changes in the times and dates of quilt shows.  Please check before heading out to attend!  Information is updated as soon as it is received

You are invited to participate in the first Quilter’s Quest Shop Hop of eastern Ontario.

It will run from Thursday to Saturday.  August 27,28,29 2020.

Visit each shop to collect a kit for one block.  The quilt block design is a variation of a 9-patch design.  The fabric line is a Christmas collection called Christmas Fig 2 by Moda.  Each shop will have a minimum of 4 bolts from the collection.  The quilters will purchase a kit at each shop.  Cost of the kit will be $11.95 Each shop will assemble a quilt top for display in their shop to show a variety of ways to assemble the top.  The extra fabric to finish the quilts will also be available to purchase.

Each quilter will have their passport punched or stamped at all the shops they have visited.  Click Here to print out your passport. Once completed your name goes into a box for a chance to win one basket of quilting goodies and grand prize of a Janome Sewing Machine.  Online purchase of the blocks is also available as well as curbside pick. Validation of the cards is only permitted during the shop hop.  Late cards will not be accepted.  Visit the Facebook Page for Quilter’s Quest eastern Ontario.

In these unprecedented times, it is difficult for groups to fund raise, Our WCW (Westmount Church Women) at Westmount Congregation, Orillia is no different. All of our fundraisers have been cancelled or postponed. We also have a quilting group at Westmount which usually quilts twice a week. All money raised by the quilting group goes to our WCW, which uses it to meet our charitable contributions. We support the church, buy supplies, and support charitable causes locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally, and support a child in Africa. We depend on the fund raisers to help raise the funds for all of this.

Since we cannot have a normal fundraiser, we have decided to hold an On Line Quilt Sale. This sale will be a Facebook event located on facebook under the title “On Line WCW Quilt Sale”.It will be held from September 2 – 16. We are hoping that you will help us out by sharing the event, and inviting your friends. I am also attaching a poster and handouts to print out if you wish.

All items for sale will be posted directly on the event site. I will start to post them soon, and continue posting until September 2, so that I have time to post everything, and prospective customers can have a chance to peruse the items for sale in advance. Nothing will actually be sold though until September 2.

Our actual brick & mortar Quilt Sale has been rescheduled until April 24, 2021. We still plan on holding that sale then as long as we are able to have larger indoor events at that time.

Thank you so much for your anticipated support.

Linda Jordan

Co- President WCW (and member of the quilting group)
