A workshop with Mary Pal
Registration for the September 10th, 2011, workshop with Mary Pal will start at the June 1, 2011 meeting. Mary will be sharing a one-day workshop on her cheesecloth portraits. Please take a look at her website marypaldesigns.com. Her opening page is one of her portraits! This is the first workshop Mary will do on this technique! She was featured in the December 2010/January 2011 Quilting Arts Magazine and has recorded a segment for Quilting Arts TV!!! Very exciting for a wonderful textile artist from Ottawa!!
As I understand, there is a drying time needed in the process, so we will start work on a SMALL project in the morning, then we will enjoy a viewing of slides and some of her work, our potluck lunch and then talk about finishing techniques. You do not have to make a portrait – – think of objects – flowers, landscapes, abstract with dyed cheesecloth. Very exciting! The workshop will take place at the Odessa Fair Grounds, 9:30 am – 4 pm. Potluck lunch – Yum!! A supply list will be available and e-mailed sometime over the summer.
As always with our guild workshops, registration fees are due upon registration. The fee will be $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Remember, membership has its privileges but I have already received interest from non-guild members and will open registration to them after June 30, 2011. Please make cheques payable to “Kingston Limestone Quilters Guild”. Please also note that fees are non-refundable. If there is a waiting list and you have to cancel your registration, I will be happy to offer it to the next person on the list, unfortunately, if there is no waiting list, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
If you have any questions, please contact Darlene Moritz.
